B-CHIP HIV Navigator
Supervised by: Director of Prevention Education
Status: Full-Time, Exempt

This position is responsible for identifying HIV-positive persons and re-engagement in medical care and linkage to support services using CDC approved interventions.
-
This position will maintain documentation and patient charts according to CDC guidelines.
-
This position will identify high-risk communities, conduct social networking strategy among men who have sex with men (MSM) social groups and online through social media and dating apps.

This position will identify individuals at risk for HIV and STD infection or transmission and coordinate
outreach activities (HIV testing events), conduct outreach and HIV testing (onsite and in the
community), pre- and post-test counseling, and navigate with the linkage coordinator for persons with
HIV. -
The position will also spend time working in the community to build trust, break down barriers of stigma, disseminate HIV/AIDS education materials that are culturally appropriate, provide safer sex
information, and distribute condoms. -
This position will also provide HIV/STD testing
Professional Development:

Complete all required CDC and BAO trainings.

Attend all scheduled agency training classes and external training classes as assigned

Be an active participant on appointed committees

Strictly adhere to all BAO / MCWC policies, procedures and agency guidelines

testing (onsite and in the community), pre- and post-test counseling, and refer patients to the Linkage
Navigator for persons with HIV/STD(s). -

Licensed Attorney, Full Time
Birmingham AIDS Outreach (BAO) is seeking to hire a highly motivated and mission-driven full-time Client Attorney to join BAO’s legal program. This position will be supervised by the Director of the BAO legal program, and will work alongside licensed attorneys, case managers, and the entire BAO professional team. This position will be responsible for rendering pro bono legal services for community members with HIV. The position will be based in Birmingham and will focus on legal advocacy with individuals, families, and communities impacted by HIV throughout the state of Alabama.
Candidates must be attorneys licensed by the Alabama State Bar and be members in good standing. Ideal candidates will be highly organized and comfortable with the use and development of technology for conducting legal services, legal education, and legal outreach; be comfortable working directly with people of diverse backgrounds and identities; have a demonstrable commitment to a broad range of social, racial, and economic justice issues, particularly as relates to people with HIV and people who identify as LGBTQ; and be skilled in verbal and written legal communications, briefs, and memos. Trial court experience is not required but is considered a plus for this position.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with the salaries of licensed attorneys employed in public interest in Alabama. Benefits include vacation leave time; full medical and dental benefits; and matched retirement savings.
