File Clerk / Front Desk Associate

Birmingham AIDS Outreach (BAO) is seeking to hire a highly motivated and mission-driven full time File Clerk/ Front Desk Associate. This position is critical to the operations of the agency, specifically the Client Services Department. This role is responsible for organizing and maintaining client services documentation according to internal and external documentation standards. As well as conducting front desk operations such as scheduling, check-in, follow-up calls and fielding incoming calls for various departments. Ideal candidates will be highly organized and comfortable with the use of technology for conducting front desk and clerical operations; be comfortable working directly with people of diverse backgrounds and identities; and have experience in customer service and effective time-management.

B-FED Project Client Specialist


The B-FED (BAO Food and Education Delivery) program, a collaborative nutrition initiative between the UAB 1917 Clinic and BAO offers nutrition services to improve the health of and decrease the rate of chronic disease in people living with HIV, who have a higher risk of food insecurity, obesity, diabetes and heart disease than the general population. B-FED provides improved-nutrition services and educational content to those living with HIV.  Specialist will assist with direct client services such as; B-FED client
appointments, home visits, nutrition workshops, support groups, and education material, as well as food pantry work as needed.

 

  • Passion for nutrition and people, team player with positive outlook, a can-do attitude, a strong work ethic, excellent writing, communication, organizational, time management skills, computer proficiency, and strong interpersonal skills preferred.

  • Attention to details, ability to maintain organization while multitasking, reliability and dependability are necessary. 

  • Must be able to regularly lift 40+ lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Case management experience a plus but not required.

  • Experience teaching/leading educational workshops a plus but not required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent, reliable transportation, must have a current state issued valid Driver’s License and good driving record.

Licensed Attorney, Full Time 

Birmingham AIDS Outreach (BAO) is seeking to hire a highly motivated and mission-driven full-time Client Attorney to join BAO’s legal program. This position will be supervised by the Director of the BAO legal program, and will work alongside licensed attorneys, case managers, and the entire BAO professional team. This position will be responsible for rendering pro bono legal services for community members with HIV. The position will be based in Birmingham and will focus on legal advocacy with individuals, families, and communities impacted by HIV throughout the state of Alabama.

Candidates must be attorneys licensed by the Alabama State Bar and be members in good standing. Ideal candidates will be highly organized and comfortable with the use and development of technology for conducting legal services, legal education, and legal outreach; be comfortable working directly with people of diverse backgrounds and identities; have a demonstrable commitment to a broad range of social, racial, and economic justice issues, particularly as relates to people with HIV and people who identify as LGBTQ; and be skilled in verbal and written legal communications, briefs, and memos. Trial court experience is not required but is considered a plus for this position.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with the salaries of licensed attorneys employed in public interest in Alabama. Benefits include vacation leave time; full medical and dental benefits; and matched retirement savings.
